Games

The other night we went over to dinner with some of our good friends from Kansas. They introduced us to the game Ticket to Ride. It was great fun!
Actually, games have been on my mind recently as I've been thinking of Christmas gifts. I saw a blurb on a morning show the other day about the best new games of the year. They mentioned Ruckus, Sorry Sliders, Qwirkle, Pictureka and Quelf.
So I've been compiling a list of games to get for our family.
But I'm wondering, what are your favorite games??

I am a fan of Scrabble, and my one of our family favorites is called Set.

I married into a family that LOVES games and it has been great. Here are some old and new favorites of mine in no particular order... Mexican Train Dominoes; Settlers of Zarahemla; Guillotine; Apples to Apples; Killer Bunnies; Ticket to Ride Europe; Sequence; Uno Attack; Scattegories; Pass the Pigs; Racko; Pit; Clue; and as far as kids go- Hi Ho Cherry O; Connect Four; Guess Who; Candy Land; Mancala; and Monopoly Jr. are fun. Merry Christmas!

I forgot to add Rummikub, that's one I would also recommend. And one children's game that I actually haven't played but have heard is worth looking into is called Enchanted Forest.

Jay and I love the game clue and they just came out with a Harry Potter version too! It's a little old for the kids yet, but we love it. The kids have been loving this new game called zingo! Its a mix of bingo and something else, but they will play it for hours!

We got the game Ticket to Ride for Christmas. We have had fun playing it with all of the family in town. Hope you had a great Christmas. Happy New Year!

This is totally after the fact, but I have to second the game PIT! Love it. Another favorite is Buzz Word, although I'm not sure we played by the rules, we played on teams at a party and is was really fun. We also have a homemade game called Cat and Mouse and you basically try and capture people's mice under a pot lid with the roll of a dice and you trade Smarties candies for points. Not good for little kids though, the lid can be quite dangerous!

We got that Pictureka for my sister's family for Christmas and they said it was fun.
