Found It

Remember my bedspread dilemma?
Well, I found this fabric that The Professor liked {notice the lack of pinkness and flowers} and I was fine with. I was waiting for it to go on sale. . .
When I found this! In the end it was more than I thought I would spend. Fabric sure adds up quickly, even at $5 a yard. But I'm actually making it king sized, just in case something miraculous happens and we ever get a king sized bed. And for now, an oversized comforter is less likely to get swiped in the middle of the night!

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

We finally got some mirrors up last weekend. I found them at my new favorite store, Kirkland's. I discovered it at the mall a few months ago. Well, turns out it's closing. Just my luck. Well, it was lucky actually, because I paid forty bucks {total, not each} on these mirrors for the master bathroom. I mean, you can't even get a plain old mirror at Home Depot for that.

I didn't notice this nice *feature* until I got it home. I probably would have bought it anyways because it was the last one they had that was big enough for this space.And all it really needed was a touch of Sharpie and a rub of shoe polish and voila!It's like a whole new room

Hippity Hoppity

Cuddles loves Easter egg hunts. He had been asking and asking and asking if we could do an early egg hunt and if he could be the Easter bunny so finally Saturday morning I gave him all the empty eggs and let him have at it. It kept him busy all morning hiding them and finding them and hiding them and finding them again. He found some pretty creative hiding spots.

After the kids were in bed I was filling eggs for the hunt today, but I was short a few. I figured I would have him find the rest in the morning and then I got to work making baby spinach quiches for breakfast {see, mini!}

And since Walmart had cream cheese for 88 cents I was compelled to make a cheesecake. Mmmmm.

And guess what I found in the drawer as I was cooking: the missing eggs! Told you he was getting good at hiding them.This morning we had two very giggly childrenAfter church we headed over to The Farm for dinner and then egg dying. Think of seven children around a table with cups full of colorful liquid. Now think of the mess. And what a mess it was!Meanwhile the dads were hiding eggs full of candy outside. Easy made a beeline for the egg at the *top* {nope, I'm not joking} of the playhouse. {Remember who hid them.} It's like she has a radar. I couldn't get a picture fast enough. Here she is climbing down.

Guess I'll go eat worms

It was supposed to be for April Fool's, but it still tasted good a few days later...

Out Back

We had a guy out today to move some dirt around. Or, as it turns out, mostly move some rocks around, with a little bit of dirt mixed in there. That made us extra glad we weren’t doing it ourselves. {We’ve done that before and let’s just say our previous town was named Rockland for a reason.}

Anywho, it’s great to have things coming along in the yard. Maybe soon I can actually let the kids out. We’re planning on extending the driveway a little for a basketball hoop and making the back yard mostly a patio. Yes, the deck will have to go. Bleck. And we’ll put a garden and grassy area up in the back corner. The Professor wants a trampoline up there, but I’m trying to stall on that one. . . I’m hoping a tether ball will appease him. Or maybe volleyball net??

Most of all, I want to put a hobbit door right in there.

But I’m not sure I can figure out how to work it before the retaining wall guys come next week. . .

Get This

So, The Professor has been grounded from playing basketball ever since I can remember. Since like graduate school. And he plays it pretty much every day. The injuries have been piling up. And he finally went to see a doctor today.

He was there for a few hours. . .

So he walks in the door with a handful of x-ray printouts. Wrist: fracture. {OK that one was from high school.} Foot: fracture. Big toe: arthritis. "And we didn't even get to talk about my knees."

I ask, "So...what does this mean?"

He tells me,"You're gonna like this. He says to lay off chores at home and to get more massages to increase the blood flow."

I said, "Have the doctor call me."

The Apprentice

So, I've been doing a lot of decorating lately. Well, a lot of planning about decorating, but whatever.

Amid all this, Easy has developed some very strong opinions about decorating her room. It needs to be "fancy." With a canopy bed, window seat and butterflies covering the windows--but no curtain so that she can see the stars. {We're debating that last part...} Basically everything she sees in the Pottery Barn Kids pictures.

So we decided to start with something we have. I put up the shelf and she did the rest. {But you could probably figure that out.}

Lets just say. . .

. . .this is why I will not be buying miniwheats again for a while. . .
