I really thought that the age of door-to-door sales was a thing of the past. I could think of one time that a salesman {actually woman, but whatever} came to my door. That was about ten years ago.
And I'm the kind of person who has caller ID for a reason: so I don't have to answer the phone and get sales pitches.
I don't know if it's the neighborhood that we live in or if everyone has caller ID now and no longer answer their phones so they are resorting to door knocking, but we have had *so* many salesmen at the door lately I can't even keep track of them. And I seriously want to stop answering the door! Is it really that much more effective than sending out flyers? Because it's way more annoying.
And this actually happened:
{knock knock knock}
door opens
"Hello, ma'am. I am just going around selling these 'No Soliciting' signs. They are five dollars each."
"No thanks."
door shuts.
And I don't know whether to laugh or pity him.

Sounds like you are in a magnet neighborhood. I printed a no soliciting sign from my city's website (makes it more official :))
Good luck :)
Wow, seriously? I'd say laugh-and then put up your own "no soliciting" sign!
P.S. I wonder how many he sells...?
That is an awesome story. I say, Print your own and put it on your door.
That's what the realtor didn't tell you about the neighborhood. I am so with you. I get so frustrated if they come during nap time and ring the doorbell. (because they wake me up!) Do you have the kids trying to win a trip to Mexico? Seriously...how do they get involved in this stuff. Hang in there.
We get a ton too, so I don't think its just your neighborhood, but perhaps the time of year? The other day a salesman asked my husband if his parents were home. We got a good laugh out of that.
I am such a SUCKER for door-to-door salesmen. I need one of those signs so I don't have to feel bad for them and buy anything else that Jason will just shake his head at!!! HA!
I'm wondering the same thing as Liss...how many does he sell on any given day??
